The Wreck of Alba —
Eudon Choi x Alighieri.
The earrings for Eudon Choi’s AW18 collection were inspired by the designer’s fascination with St Ives, and Alfred Wallace in particular. A painter and a fisherman, Wallace conjured up the idea of fragmented coastlines, and pearls dragged from the sea, for Alighieri Jewellery.
The jagged and scraggy gold textures and layers of imperfect baroque pearls tell the tale of the cobbled streets and dramatic landscapes of St Ives. The way in which the gold and the pearls reflect in each other is an attempt to express the magical quality of the light on the Cornish coast.
The Wreck of Alba is a single 24 karat gold plated bronze earring with a baroque freshwater pearl.
It is 5.1 centimetres in length and 2.5 centimetres wide.
The earring weighs between 15 to 17 grams, depending on the size of the pearl.
