Medium Leone —
Questi parea che contra me venesse
con la test'alta e con rabbiosa fame,
si che parea che l'aere ne temesse
Inferno, canto i, lines 46-49
In the selva oscura -dark wood- Dante is confronted by a terrifying lion. His head held high, with a furious hunger, it seems as though the very air is trembling in fear of the wild beast. This encounter comes close to forcing Dante to turn away from the perilous journey. It is at this point that Virgil, his guide, appears to offer him counsel and companionship.
Hanging on a 16 / 18 / 20 inch adjustable chain, The Medium Leone was crafted from an antique Venetian coin, recovered and restored with Alighieri wax. It is designed to be worn as a reminder to be courageous.
All our pieces are made to order and crafted in our London studios, through the process of lost wax casting. Please allow 10-14 days for your modern heirloom.
The Medium Leone is cast bronze plated in 24 karat gold. It is 2cm in diameter
