The Beginning of the Plait Ring
The Beginning of the Plait Ring is handcrafted from 24ct gold plated sterling silver, in Hatton Garden, London.
‘Over the past year I’ve been looking to Dante’s “Divine Comedy” for answers. Never before has the notion of being lost in a dark wood been a more apt metaphor for society right now.
The Roots is an invitation to reflect. What are our priorities? What matters the most to us? For me, the answer is people: my family, my friends, my team and the incredible people who make up the fabric of the Alighieri community. I wanted to use this collection to hold a mirror up to myself, and explore the roots of what makes us who we are.
The Roots Collection has been shot on these very people – a myriad of amazing women.' - RM.
The 27th Canto of Purgatory is so rich in emotion and contemplation. This is the canto that sees Virgil bid farewell to Dante, as he commences the next stage of his journey:
"I have brought thee here with intellect and skill. From now on take your pleasure as your guide...Look at the sun shining before you, look at the fresh grasses, flowers and trees which here the earth produces of itself."
The knots are coming free in this ring, loosening as Virgil has the confidence to let Dante go, and commence the next part of his journey. It is the Beginning of the Plait.
